Man Jumps from Carnival Cruise Ship in Florida

Hill’s companion reported him missing late Sunday afternoon, and Carnival Cruise Line said that an initial review of closed circuit security footage confirmed that he had jumped overboard. The Coast Guard was notified and deployed multiple aircraft and vessels to search for Hill, but the search was suspended after 36 hours, having covered more than 1,347 square miles.

The cause of Hill’s jumping is not yet known, but the Coast Guard is investigating. Carnival Cruise Line has said that it is providing support to Hill’s family and friends, and that it is cooperating with the Coast Guard’s investigation.

Hill was traveling with his companion, who was not injured in the incident.

Hill was last seen on the ship’s deck at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Coast Guard searched for Hill in an area 95 nautical miles east of Melbourne, Florida.

The search was suspended due to the lack of any new information.

This is the second man-overboard incident on a Carnival cruise ship in Florida this year. In May, a 35-year-old man went overboard from the Carnival Magic cruise ship while it was returning to Virginia. The search for that man was also suspended after 60 hours.
