Podcasts have become quite popular in recent years, but it can be hard to know how to start a podcast or how to grow your podcast once you’ve begun creating and publishing episodes. If you want to know how to grow your podcast from an idea into something people listen to, these 10 tips will help you get started or keep going!

1) Gather information about your audience

Podcasts give you the opportunity to get in front of your listeners and connect with them on a deeper level. You may have been casually following a podcast but after having a conversation with the host, you feel like you know him or her.

2) Get answers from your listeners

The best thing you can do to grow your podcast is answer questions from your listeners. Ask them in advance what they want to know and bring the topic up on air. You will be surprised at how insightful your listener’s advice is. And, by answering their questions, you are creating future podcasts that people want to hear. It’s a win-win situation!

3) Establish a schedule, routine, or pattern

Find what works best with your schedule, routine, or pattern and do it consistently. What works best might be waking up at the same time every day and starting your morning with a workout, or going to bed every night by 9 p.m. and turning off all electronics an hour before sleep. Whatever pattern or routine you find that helps you maintain peace and feel grounded will work! The key is finding what works best for you.

4) Live social media is your best friend

Social media is where the future of content lies, and it’s an excellent tool for building a following before launching your podcast. After all, how many successful podcasts do you know that were made overnight? Live social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram are excellent platforms to leverage your followers and grow your audience ahead of time.

As soon as you decide on a theme or set of topics for your podcast, be sure to give them their own dedicated social media channel. Create videos or pictures on this channel that best encapsulate what you plan on talking about on the show. Give people something to look forward to!
